Blowing Rock Country Club is an 18-hole exclusive, private club located in the mountains of NC, just outside Boone. Founded in 1915, BRCC is rich in history and prestige. North Carolina’s only Seth Raynor design, has also seen work from Donald Ross, Charles Banks, Tom Jackson and Kris Spence. The club is currently approximately half way through a Kris Spence master plan, long-term restoration.

Golf course is open May through October, (6 month season). Greens are Poa Annua/Bentgrass. Tees, Approaches and Fairways are Bentgrass.

The Senior Assistant Superintendent reports directly to the Superintendent and is responsible for the leadership and guidance of all maintenance operations while implementing specific procedures and maintaining a high level of excellence. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, detail-oriented, passionate, hard-working individual that takes pride in their work and wants to advance to a superintendent's position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Directs all daily, on course operations.
• Oversees all maintenance employees including their training and continued development.
• Plans and organizes along the Superintendent’s guidelines, schedules and supervises all daily tasks while ensuring a safe and efficient workplace.
• Ensures operations are ran effectively and efficiently on a daily basis.
• Maintains communication between the Superintendent and employees.
• Observes golf course conditions and maintains strict standards with an emphasis on details.
• Enforces safety regulations and standards governing pesticide usage, employees and working conditions.
• Performs pesticide and fertilizer applications along with other Assistants.

REQUIREMENTS:
• 2 or 4 year degree in Turfgrass or Agronomy degree preferred.
• A minimum of 3 to 5 years experience as an Assistant Superintendent at a respected club.
• Must possess or obtain within 90 days of hire, a NC pesticide applicator’s license.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Principal Duties:

- Assists in personnel management and evaluation, employee safety, personnel discipline and may also modify the daily work schedule based on professional interpretation.
- Assists with the preparation, development and management of operational budgets. Performs all functions within the limits of the approved budget.
- Assists the Superintendent with record keeping for supplies, daily logs, application records, climatic condition records and personnel records which include verifying departmental staff time cards.
- Assist in the development and implementation of necessary cultural maintenance programs to keep the golf course and landscape grounds in acceptable condition, including the application of pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers.

Employment standards:
- Working knowledge of the maintenance of golf course tees, fairways, greens; the propagation and maintenance practices for golf course turf; the planting, cultivating, pruning, and caring for plants, shrubs and trees; the characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers and soil conditioners; herbicides and pest control methods and materials; drainage control methods; and irrigation systems, including wells, pumps and automatic controls.
- Ability to schedule and supervise maintenance work to achieve the most efficient utilization of workers and equipment; to prepare clear and concise reports; and to maintain effective employee and public relations.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- Current state certification or licensing as a pesticide/herbicide applicator.
-Thorough knowledge of general business procedures as would normally be acquired thorough a secondary education, obtaining a two or four-year degree in turf management or related field or trades training and work related experience in turf management.

Grandover Resort is a 36 hole resort that opened in 1995 in Greensboro, NC.  The west course is a 6800 yard, par 72 designed by Graham & Panks covered by 419, basically wall to wall.
