Greenskeeper 1

Salary: Starting at $15.00/per hour (DOE)

JOB SUMMARY: The Greenskeeper I ensures that the day to day care, maintenance, and renovation of the golf course and surrounding grounds are in quality condition.

•    Operates golf course maintenance equipment to include: mowers (walkers and riders), trimmers, edgers, weed eaters, blowers, etc.
•    Changes tee markers, cuts cups, repair ball marks on greens, and repair tee and fairway divots.
•    Rake and edge bunkers, top dress greens and tees, edge cart paths, remove weeds, and gather debris from golf course.
•    Participate in course renovations such as sod laying or removal, grass sprigging, trench excavating, tree and brush removal, operating hand tools.
•    Helps clean course bathrooms, empty trash, and refill water coolers.
•    Performs golf course maintenance duties as assigned by management.

•    0 – 3 years experience in landscaping or golf course maintenance.
•    Basic understanding of operating lawn care equipment and its safety procedures
•    Must be accurate and have strong attention to detail
•    Ability to operate motorized equipment
•    Ability to work over time, weekends and holidays

•    Ability to lift 60 lbs. frequently
•    Ability to walk 3-5 miles a day
•    Ability to perform strenuous physical work on a daily basis to include frequent handling, reaching, lifting, carrying, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, and balancing
•    Ability to work both indoor and outdoor in various weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold while being exposed to all forms of precipitation

Turfgrass Internship
The Tree Farm, Batesburg, SC
Salary: $14.00 - $16.00 / per hour

The Tree Farm is a new private golf club in Batesburg, South Carolina. It is the vision of PGA Tour player and golf architecture enthusiast Zac Blair. The routing of the golf course was completed by world renowned golf course architect Tom Doak and the design of the course and all its features was completed by Kye Goalby and his team of shapers. The Tree Farm is a private boutique golf club with a national membership that puts a premium on impeccable daily conditioning throughout the golfing season. The club will be closed from June 1 till Sept 1 on a yearly basis to complete cultural practices and miscellaneous course improvement projects.

Interns will gain experience:
• Managing 3.5 Acres of TifEagle Ultradwarf Bermudagrass
• Managing 70 Acres of Tahoma31 Bermudagrass tees and fairways
• Operation and maintenance of Rainbird 2
• Wire irrigation system with Watertronics pump station
• Drainage design, installation and repair
• Turfgrass cultivation (Topdressing, aerification, verticutting, etc)
• Chemical/Fertilizer calibration and application
• Driving Range and Putting Green construction in 2023
• Native area seeding and establishment
• Small crew management

Turfgrass Worker
Wilmington Municipal Golf Course, Wilmington, NC
Salary: $15.00 - $15.75 per hour

Job Responsibilities:
• Work to present and maintain the Wilmington Municipal Golf Course in the best condition by mowing turf, raking bunkers, changing holes, moving tee markers, and other golf course related duties
• Other duties include spraying pesticides, assisting in maintaining buildings and equipment, and irrigation repair
• Full-time non-exempt position Job Duties
• Maintain course by mowing turf, aerating greens, tees, and fairways, top dressing and vertical cutting greens and tees, applying fertilizers and pesticides, operating irrigation, and inspecting the agronomic needs of the turf
• Maintain bunkers by refurbishing and raking bunkers
• Maintaining the green surrounds
• Maintain course landscape by inspecting and assessing needs, planting and removing trees, trimming trees and shrubbery, collecting limbs, pine cones, and leaves, and removing litter and debris

• Education: Ability to read and understand written instruction
• Experience: Minimum one year of related experience in golf course maintenance or grounds/landscaping
• The ability to work weekends is a must
• Notes: Driving and Criminal History check required
• Selected applicant will also be required to complete a post offer drug screen

Other Requirements:
• Valid Driver's License;
• Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions 
• Be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds

Sod Farm Operations Manager

Modern Turf, Inc. in Rembert, SC seeks a Sod Farm Operations Manager. We need a dynamic individual who is a top-notch grass grower and great personnel manager! The farms are located in Sumter County, SC and many of the staff live in the city of Camden which is like living in a Norman Rockwell painting in the South! Successful applicant will be responsible for growing, renovating and maintaining 10 +/- varieties of high-end warm season turf for sod and sprig harvesting on two farms totaling 1400 acres that are 10 miles apart.

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: renovating fields and planting grass, ordering and applying all necessary fertilizers,chemicals and other turf products as required and calibrating sprayers and spreaders. Operations manager will oversee the harvesting manager and equipment manager and work with various pumps and irrigation systems and sharing responsibility for them with the harvesting manager; hiring, managing, training and supervising farm staff; and working some weekends. The primary responsibility of the Production Manager is to maximize the production of all grasses and ensure nothing but the highest quality product is making it to market. Successful applicant will have a minimum of an associate of science degree, a commanding knowledge of growing warm season grasses and must be able to obtain a South Carolina pesticide applicators license within 3 months of hire date.
