Grandfather Golf & Country Club is a private 36 hole facility that is open for 6 months with 12,000 annual rounds.  Greens, tees and fairways are Creeping Bentgrass.

The right individuals will be core members of our team and will learn the skills and knowledge needed to advance their education and ultimately their career. Our interns will work alongside our superintendent and assistants to learn all aspects of the day to day operations of our golf courses. This would include, daily planning, record keeping, data and water management, irrigation, chemical applications, and so much more. The right individual will have the opportunity to maintain the #2 golf course in North Carolina. 

Educational Requirements Must be enrolled in a 2 or 4 year Turfgrass management program or related field at an accredited University. Must possess a positive attitude. Be passionate about the turf industry. Willingness to learn Verbal and written communication skills. Experience Requirements Minimal landscape maintenance experience is encouraged. Must be enrolled in a 2 or 4-year Turfgrass management program or related field.

Quixote Club is the old Sunset C.C. totally rebuilt and redesigned in our first full year of operation. Quixote is a private 18 hole golf course with 13,000 annual rounds.  Greens are Tifeagle.  Tees and fairways are Tiftuf. Candidate will learn from the ground up all facets of golf course agronomy.

Quixote Club is offering a summer internship for the right individual who wants to learn the turf business from a true hands-on experience. We are very flexible with the start finish timetable depending on the current school schedule. Quixote will offer housing, $ 13 dollars an hour plus overtime, and golf privileges. We are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays which are our busiest days for maintenance.

Founded in 1981, Long Cove Club is a fully private, gated community located in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Long Cove features a championship golf course designed by Pete Dye, which is widely recognized as one of his finest. The golf course recently just underwent a major restoration project which included re-grassing the fairways with Celebration bermudagrass, re-grassing the greens with Tifeagle bermudagrass, restoring bunkers to their original design, upgrading drainage systems, and replacing multiple bulkheads and all cart paths. Long Cove is currently ranked #6 in the state of South Carolina by Golf Digest and #148 in Golf Digests “The Second 100 Greatest” top 100 Greatest Golf Courses in the U.S. The interns will work closely with the superintendent and assistants on a daily basis in all facets of golf course maintenance. Daily tasks will include, but not limited to: course set-up, hand watering, mowing, fertilizer/pesticide applications and calibrations, irrigation maintenance and repair, weed and disease identification and management, and insect monitoring and management.

This position will be available from April through August,

This position will be a full walk through of being a golf course superintendent that will provide experience using sprayers and mixing chemicals, tractors, topdressing equipment and going through the budgetary process on a weekly and monthly basis. General use of walking and riding greens mower, tee mower, fairway mower, rough mower, roller, bunker rake, carts, push mowers, and a variety of powered and non-powered hand tools to maintain golf course grounds and landscaping. Clean and maintain equipment that is used. Treat all equipment with care and respect. Operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Mow greens, tees, fairways, and rough. Rake bunkers. Weedeat and push mow bunker faces. Set cups and move tee markers. Hand-water greens and tees. Help with irrigation repairs. Perform light custodial operations on golf course grounds and buildings, i.e, cleaning and stocking rest rooms, sweeping stones from paths, trash collection, mopping floors, etc. Use mops and brooms. Report problems encountered on site to supervisor immediately. Take appropriate steps to address emergency situations.

Ballantyne Country Club is a private open year round 18 hole golf course with annual rounds of 33,000.  Greens are TifEagle, Tees are Zeon, and Fairways are 419.

The intern will experience all aspects of the greens and grounds maintenance department as well as the opportunity to sample the operations of other departments across the property during their time here. Some facets of the job will include things such as staff scheduling, budgeting, project management, chemical and fertilizer applications, calibration, irrigation repairs, etc. 

The intern position will be scheduled to work a minimum of a 40 hr work week as well as every other weekend.
