Pro Pump & Controls, Inc., Myrtle Beach, SC
Salary: $45,000 - $60,000 (DOE)

The ProPump & Controls, Inc. Field Service Technician is responsible for service, installation, and repair of automated pump stations, pump controls, piping, valves, and related equipment, within his assigned operating area. He/ She is expected to identify opportunities for both new equipment and service sales, and work with both his Regional Field Service Manager and the Inside Sales Manager, as required, to secure orders for the company. As a representative of the company in direct contact with end-user customers, the Field Service Technician is expected to conduct himself in a highly professional manner at all times. Position can be based in Wilmington, Myrtle Beach, Charleston or Hilton Head.

Responsibilities of a ProPump Field Technician Include:
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues on automated pump systems.
• Use a multimeter, process meter, megger, vibration meter, laser alignment tool, and other instruments to diagnose pump motors and controls issues.
• Instruct customers on proper procedures for operating and maintaining equipment.
• Install pump stations, pumps, and motors using cranes and other heavy equipment.
• Set up and maintain telemetry networks utilizing radios, cellular modems, DSL lines, etc.
• Perform pump station preventive maintenance, including: Lubricate motor bearings, Change oil in turbine motors, Re-pack pumps, Inspect and rebuild hydraulic control valves, Inspect and clean wye strainers and filter screens, Inspect pump screens and wet well with the use of an underwater camera, measurement of pump and motor performance
• Promote sales of company products and services to solve customer problems.

Qualifications:
• Excellent communications skills. You must communicate daily with team members and customers while at their site.
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Ability to learn to read and interpret wiring schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical literature.
• Computer proficiency to complete Work Orders, Quotes and Weekly Appointment Calendar.
• Neat appearance
• Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record. (No DUI’s)
• Must be willing to take a drug test.

Physical Demands:
• Travel--/overnight stays during the week are necessary—DO NOT APPLY IF YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO TRAVEL
• Energetic and able to work long hours when required—When a critical piece of equipment is down, we do whatever it takes to get our customers back in service!
• Ability to work in extremes of temperature, heat and cold, within your respective region.
• Capable of lifting 60 pounds unassisted.

Experience:
• Some college preferred, with preference given to applicants with science or engineering background
• United States Military or job history performing some type of mechanical or electrical work in lieu of college courses.
• Previous job or hobby reflecting interest in technical subjects.

Equipment Manager

Cat Island Club is the final design from legendary golf course architect George Cobb. The ownership is dedicated to restoring the course back to its original design concept and has retained Mr. Cobbs partner architect John LaFoy to lead the design rehabilitation. The course offers stunning views of the waterfront on a number of holes with the potential to be a memorable golf experience. This is a great opportunity to be involved in restoring an awesome course. The initial phase will be to restore the entire green complex including bunkers, surrounds, and green contours and re-grass the greens. This is a versatile position where the individual will be asked to work on the course as well as in the shop. The ideal candidate will be a hybrid of an Assistant Superintendent and a Mechanic. Equipment Manager
Palmetto Hall Plantation, Hilton Head Island, SC

Palmetto Hall is a 36 hole facility. One course is designed by Arthur Hills and the other is a Robert Cupp design. The Hills course is currently undergoing a greens and bunker renovation. Palmetto Hall is now part of the Heritage Golf group collection. We are looking for a talented individual to help lead our equipment maintenance department. We currently have a mixed bag of Toro and John Deere. We are wall to wall Bermuda grass.

The equipment manager reports to the golf course superintendent and oversees a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for the golf course assets including a mix fleet of equipment, service areas, tools and parts.  The individual reports directly to the Golf Course Superintendent, and works with assistant management team in a collaborative, team manner

Key responsibilities and duties:

  • Properly communicates any needs or problems relating to the maintenance or repair of equipment to the superintendent and schedules and directs the work assignments of the assistant equipment manager.
  • Places safety as a top priority and is responsible for maintaining a clean service area and maintenance building.
  • Strong follow-through on delegated tasks and assignments, which will require record keeping and preventative maintenance scheduling.
  • Follows established policies and procedures and expects other to do the same.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Degree from an accredited 2 or 4-year college program preferred (not required)
  • 3-5 years as an Equipment Manager, will consider those individuals with Assistant Equipment Manager experience under a reputable facility with proper training and certifications.

Mechanic
Holly Tree Country Club, Simpsonville, NC

Located in Simpsonville South Carolina Holly Tree was designed by George Cobb in1973. The course has a master plan from Jeff Lawerance to redo greens complex in near future, as well as many other upgrades to the course. Holly Tree has a full scale of amenities including driving range and short game area, tennis courts, and a pool area. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to work alongside the superintendent and other assistant superintendents. The assistant will be involved in short and long term planning and yearly budget process. We have Bernhard Reel and Bedknife grinders.

Overview:
The equipment manager reports to the golf course superintendent and/or the assistant golf course superintendent and oversees a comprehensive equipment maintenance program. This program includes the preventative maintenance and repair of all turf equipment, keeping records of parts and labor needed to maintain each piece of equipment, and placing orders for parts and supplies needed for equipment or service. The equipment manager properly communicates any needs or problems relating to the maintenance or repair of equipment to the superintendent and/or the assistant superintendent. The equipment manager places safety as a top priority and is responsible for maintaining a clean service area and maintenance building.

Functions:
• Inspects, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects/failures in various golf course maintenance equipment, including, diesel-, electric-, and gasoline-powered equipment.
• Responsible for the grinding/sharpening and setup of reel and rotary mowers of all sizes and manufacturers.
• Prioritizes equipment repair and maintenance work.
• Maintains a preventive maintenance program on all equipment, and purchases repair parts and replacement supplies.
• Keeps a complete set of records for equipment and parts inventory purchases, equipment conditions, costs of repairs and preventive maintenance.
• Checks equipment for performance on the course, makes emergency repairs to equipment on the course, and services or supervises servicing of equipment prior to use.
• Instructs and/or trains golf course maintenance workers regarding preventive maintenance, and the proper cleaning of and safe operation of equipment.
• Oversees the shop area maintenance.
• Regulates employees' use of equipment in absence of superintendent and assistant superintendent, if needed, and performs other duties as directed by the superintendent.

Employment Standards:
• Working knowledge of the theory, care, and operation of light and heavy duty maintenance, mowing, and automotive apparatuses, internal combustion engines and hydraulic and electrical systems and motors.
• Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical troubles, and determine appropriate maintenance work.
• Skilled in the use of a variety of equipment repair tools, and the making various types of mechanical repair.
• Knowledge of the game of golf and the understanding of how job performance affects playing conditions of the golf course.
• Willingness to work in the field, in a variety of weather conditions, while repairing equipment or assisting in any other area of golf course maintenance.
• Ability to stand, walk, reach, and use hands and fingers to feel or handle.
• Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
