GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Performs a variety of semi-skilled manual and motor equipment operation in the maintenance of the golf course.
ORGANIZATIONAL INFORMATION:
Salary grade: 6. Hiring Range: $18.15 - $19.25 Exercises no supervision. Generally scheduled between the hours of 6AM-3PM, Monday-Friday. Some weekend work is required on a rotational schedule. Hours may vary due to seasonal needs. Reports directly to Golf Maintenance Superintendent.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
An employee in this class performs various manual labor and motorized equipment operations in maintaining the golf course. Work includes mowing, raking sand traps, cutting wood and operating a variety of manual and power tools. Work is evaluated through direct observation and inspection of work completed. Work is supervised closely by crew leader or golf course maintenance management.
ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK:
• Mows rough, fairways and greens.
• Plants trees and grass and does general landscaping.
• Spreads fertilizer on greens and fairways.
• Uses chain saw and other tools to clear debris from course.
• Paints and does general cleaning and repair on buildings.
• Aerates greens, tees, and fairways.
• Digs trenches and lays water lines for irrigation system.
• Installs new water lines and sprinkler heads for irrigation system.
• Sprays herbicides on greens and fairways, under the direction of the golf course superintendent.
• Follows safety procedures, rules and regulations.
• Uses hand tools, and hand power equipment including chain saws, blowers and other tools needed to perform various types of manual labor.
• Any other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Some knowledge of methods, equipment, and materials used in assignments including turf grass and ornamentals.
• General knowledge of the hazards in the work and necessary safety precautions to be taken.
• Ability to perform manual labor in out-of-doors environment.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
DESCRIPTION OF PHYSICAL EXERTION AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Heavy Work- Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Employee is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment,
• Employee is subject to outside environmental conditions: No effective protection from weather.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum requirements: Graduation from high school or GED program.
• Preferred: Graduation from high school or GED program or higher, supplemented with coursework in turf grass management, maintenance or related field and experience in general maintenance, lawn maintenance, golf course maintenance, landscaping or related field. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
• North Carolina Driver License - Class “C” is required.

Job Summary:
The Assistant Mechanic assists or works independently of the mechanic in the repairing and maintenance of the golf course maintenance equipment
Job Duties:
• Inspect, diagnose, adjust, and repair mechanical defects/failures in various golf course maintenance equipment
• Prioritize equipment repair and pm services
• Set up and modify new equipment as needed
• Repair and adjust engines and cutting mechanisms on various mowing equipment
• Spot check equipment for performance on the course and make emergency repairs as necessary
• Properly recycle and dispose of various oils, anti-freeze and filters
• Oversee and maintain a clean service area emphasizing safety

• Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and determine appropriate maintenance work
• Skilled in the use of a variety of equipment repair tools

Gates Four is a semiprivate country club in Fayetteville, NC. We also have a landscaping company called GF Turf and Landscape. This position will be 50% golf course and 50% landscape responsibilities. Spraying and granular fertilizer applications will be the primary job responsibilities. Spraying and fertilizing sports fields will be most of the job duties on the landscape side. The golf course duties will include all aspects of golf course maintenance. We would like the applicant to have a pesticide license but work with the right candidate on obtaining the license. Experience is helpful but not required. GENERAL SUMMARY:
Responsible for daily activities of all equipment maintenance and repair programs, equipment safety programs, and equipment utilization on golf courses. Acts as technical advisor on all equipment issues and assists management with equipment budgets and potential equipment purchases.

The Cliffs at Keowee Vineyards is an 18 hole, Tom Fazio design, located on Lake Keowee in upstate SC. We are one of the seven golf courses within The Cliffs Clubs. Keowee Vineyards has consistently been recognized by Golf Week, as one of the top 50 residential golf courses in the United States. The golf course is predominantly 419 bermuda, with Champion bermudagrass greens and Zeon zoysia tees.
The equipment manager reports to the golf course superintendent and oversees a comprehensive preventive maintenance program. This program includes the repair of failing equipment, keeping records of parts and labor needed to maintain each piece of equipment, and placing orders for parts and supplies needed for equipment or service. The equipment manager properly communicates any needs or problems relating to the maintenance or repair of equipment to the superintendent and/or the assistant superintendent, and schedules and directs the work assignments of the assistant equipment manager. The equipment manager places safety as a top priority and is responsible for maintaining a clean service area and maintenance building.
Job Duties:
• Inspects, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects/failures in various golf course maintenance equipment, including, diesel, electric and gasoline powered automobiles, trucks, trenchers, sweepers, rollers, mowers, and other mechanical equipment used in utility work.
• Instructs and/or trains golf course maintenance workers regarding preventive maintenance, and the proper cleaning of and safe operation of equipment.
• Prioritizes equipment repair and maintenance work.
• Maintains a preventive maintenance program within budget on all equipment, and purchases repair parts and replacement supplies.
• Keeps a complete set of records for equipment and parts inventory purchases, equipment conditions, costs of repairs and preventive maintenance for all equipment.
• Spot checks equipment for performance on the course, makes emergency repairs to equipment on the course, and services or supervises servicing of equipment prior to use.
• Oversees the shop area maintenance.
• Regulates employees' use of equipment in absence of superintendent and assistant superintendent, if needed, and performs other duties as directed by the superintendent.
• Recommends equipment purchases and leases.
• Experience Requirements
• Previous Lead Equipment Technician experience preferred, will consider previous Assistant Equipment Technicians or Technicians with related experience.
